On October 12, 1810 Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese of Bavaria. To celebrate the marriage Prince Ludwig threw a festival and invited all of the citizens of Munich to attend. The festival was so popular that it became an annual event. Marzen beer, served during the festival, eventually became known as Oktoberfest. This beer is malty and amber in color.
