Beautiful antique miner’s lamp by Hubert Joris dating from approximately 1900–1910, presented in very nice and working condition. A fantastic and robust industrial piece with strong historical character.
The lamp carries the numbers 857 and 362, suggesting that parts may once have been assembled together from different lamps during its working life.
A particularly special feature is the glass globe marked:
MC10 Baccarat France, produced by Baccarat.
The lamp remains in working condition. The wick holder moves up and down by turning the adjustment wheel underneath. It also retains its original flint holder, designed to ignite the lamp when fitted with a flint mechanism, although this does not function when using paraffin/petroleum fuel.
According to collectors, this is believed to be a Meesterhouwerslamp (Master Miner’s Lamp) by Hubert Joris / Joris Lampe from Belgium, closely related in style to the famous Wolf mining lamps.
Extremely atmospheric when used as an oil lamp, but equally impressive as a decorative industrial object in any interior or mining collection.
The lamp itself is unmarked.
Specifications:
Perfect for collectors of mining lamps, industrial antiques, Belgian railway lighting, and early oil lanterns.
