A sweet gray poodle peering out of a gift bag — because in 1973, Jim Beam understood that the best decanters also make the best gifts. This is one of the most charming pieces in Jim Beam's Animal Decanter series, which ran from 1958 to 1987 and produced some of the most beloved figural ceramics in American barware history.
The poodle is rendered in soft gray porcelain bisque with wonderful detail — fluffy ears, bright eyes, and just enough personality to make you smile every time you walk past the bar. She comes complete with her original red yarn tie, which is typically missing on examples found today, making this one a particularly nice find. The original whiskey label and partial tax strip are also intact. Made by Royal China, originally sold with Jim Beam 100 Months Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, now empty.
Note: the cork is broken. If using for display only, it can be glued in place. Otherwise a replacement cork will do the trick.
A delightful gift for the dog-loving dad, the poodle owner, the dog groomer, or any Jim Beam collector who has been hunting for this one.
Jim Beam's Animal Decanter series launched in 1958 and ran nearly thirty years, producing figural decanters in the shapes of dogs, cats, birds, wildlife, and more — all hand-crafted by Royal China of Chicago. The series is one of the most collected in American barware, with dog decanters among the most sought-after designs.
